XLS to CSV - change the delimiter of CSV files

Is there any way to change the delimiter of CSV files? In this article, we would like to explain how to convert XLS files to CSV format and change the delimiter to your requested character type.

Is it possible to change XLS files to CSV format with TAB delimiter?
"Hi there, I just want to convert a directory of xls files to csv format on my iMac. Is there any way to change the delimiter? I need TAB delimiter. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.”

Actually, there are lots of XLS to CSV converters out there in the market, but only a few of them run on Mac and allow you changing separators. Fortunately, Gmagon XLS2csv is one of them. It includes the ability to change the delimiter, which is very helpful. Check a quick guide on how to do this with this little app.

How to convert XLS to CSV and change the delimiter?

Software requirement
Gmagon XLS2csv

Install and run Gmagon XLS2csv on your Mac, then follow these steps:
Step 1: Drag and drop or click “Import File” to load Excel .xls files that you want to convert. You are allowed to import multiple files to do batch conversion.

Step 2: Go to “Export Configuration” Window

By default, this app generates comma delimited CSV. If you need to specify a kind of character as separator, you can navigate to “Export Configuration” window, switch to “others” column, and set Tab (for example) as separator. You can also input whatever character (for instance, semicolon) you want as separator manually.

Step 3: Set output directory for generated CSV files

Step 4: Click “Convert all” button to start batch converting .xls files to .csv format on Mac
As soon as the conversion is complete, click output directory to find the generated CSV files. You will find the resulted CSV files are delimited with your specified separator.

Hope this helps those who are searching for a way to batch convert XLS files to CSV on Mac with required delimiter.
