Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VI XAVC S and Premiere workflow
Does Adobe Premiere Pro comes with native support for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VI XAVC-S codec? If not, what software can I use to make it compatible? Actually, support for XAVC-S format was added in Premiere Pro CC.1 (7.1). If for any reason you are unable to work with Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VI XAVC-S files in Adobe Premiere properly, you can transcode them to a format that is compatible with Premiere first.
Your computer may well be able to handle Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VI XAVC-S files fine in Premiere. In my experience at the busy post-production house I work at, even our top spec Mac Pros will struggle very hard with a half hour or hour show comprised of XAVC-S .mp4 or XDCAM .mxf media. Problems don't just occur in playback either, Premiere can really struggle just navigating around a project with lots of non-optimized media.
They are both formats that the computer must work hard to decode and playback, and yes of course you can render previews but then you must re-render each time you make a change to the file.
In this situation, we would recommend converting Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VI XAVC-S files to optimized DNxHD or ProRes media before start editing in Premiere.

Step 2: Click "Profile" to select output format. For Mac based Premiere, we would recommend choosing "Final Cut Pro" > "Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)" as output format. The ProRes 422 codec will ensure a good balance between file size and file quality.

Tips: 1. This converter only outputs Apple ProRes files up to 1080p. If your source video is 4K and you want to keep its original quality, you can select "4K Video" > "4K H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Video (*.mp4)" as target format for use in Premiere. To select 4K H.264 as output, please make sure your computer has enough power to handle 4K H.264.

2. If necessary, you can click "Settings" button to modify video and audio parameters like encoder, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, aspect ratio, sample rate, and audio channels. You can also "Enable 3D Settings" to add 3D effect to your source media.
