iMovie won’t import Canon PowerShot SX730 HS MXF video

Can't import MXF files from your Canon PowerShot SX730 HS to iMovie any longer after upgraded to macOS High Sierra? You are not the only one. At the moment, High Sierra does not have native support for MXF files yet. Fortunately, this problem can be solved via transcoding Canon PowerShot SX730 HS MXF video to iMovie preferred Apple InterMediate Codec (AIC .mov) first.

"Why iMovie refused loading MXF files from my Canon PowerShot SX730 HS on High Sierra that it should open? I hope it is a bug, because now I have an awful lot of projects based on Canon PowerShot SX730 HS MXF files which are unusable (black screen, no sound) and I have no intention of purchasing Final Cut Pro X just to make simple edits. Any ideas?"
